10 Great UK Deals on TVs, Laptops, and Gaming Gear
This week’s best UK tech deals will keep you occupied in front of a screen. Hisense and LG have great TV deals going, while Lenovo, Apple, and Asus are serving up some enticing computing cuts. For the full skinny on these deals and a few more, read on below.
TV Deals
If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful, yet capable, TV that stands above retailer-owned brands like JVC but presents good value against the big brands like LG and Samsung, Hisense has long been an appealing pick. This 58-inch 4K model comes with Alexa built-in for accommodating a sofa-bound sesh and Freeview Play for checking out your favorite apps and classic UK channels.
While Hisense is the bang-for-your-buck option of the TV world right now, picking an LG has been an easy choice for those considering a high quality display. At under £1,200, this 2021 model offers crisp and colorful OLED technology. The blacks aren’t quite as deep as LG’s highest-end OLED panels, but they’re better than most anything else. The detail and colors it does offer are typically glorious. You also get Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos as well as support for Google Assistant and Alexa.
LG does dabble in low-end TVs, too. The discount here isn’t huge but it’s a welcome chunk at these cheaper prices. This 4K LED HDR panel comes with Google and Alexa smarts as well as LG’s swift webOS and clever Filmmaker mode.
JVC is truly a no-frills option for your TV, with simple Full HD resolution and LED display tech. This is a model that might sit nicely in a bedroom or similar, rather than the centerpiece of a living room. Despite its low price, you still get access to the apps you expect via this TV’s Amazon Fire TV operating system with Alexa support included via the remote.
Laptop and Tablet Deals
Gaming laptops are, more and more, becoming all-purpose machines. Made for killing zombies, Zoom calls and editing videos. And this can certainly lead to some high prices. While this Lenovo Legion 5 is capable across all those areas, it’s much more a dedicated gaming device—keeping the price more reasonable. For under £900, you get an impressive AMD Ryzen 7 chip, entry to mid-tier Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card and a decent 512 GB SSD.
Discounts on Apple products are rare, especially when buying direct. Luckily, reductions can be found elsewhere. Just about £15 off on the largest and most powerful iPad you can buy isn’t going to blow anyone away but it’s cheaper than many retailers nonetheless. The main upgrades for this latest model are the addition of a Liquid Retina XDR (Mini LED) display and Apple’s speedy yet efficient M1 chip.
This Asus Chromebook doesn’t come with a ton of power or storage but ChromeOS is far from demanding and web-based tasking is the norm on this operating system. If you want a cheap device for browsing the web, writing essays, and watching TV shows—a 360 hinge makes this comfortable too—then Asus does make some of the best options at this price.
Wireless Earbuds and Peripheral Deals
While Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live have been priced at £79 on Amazon for some time now, a handy £20 voucher is now available—just check the box on the product page before adding to the basket. These cut-price Samsung earbuds offer active noise cancellation, up to 21 hours of battery life and a unique bean-like design.
As with iPads and other Apple products, don’t expect many sales directly from the brand. Here though, you can nab £50 of the very latest version of the AirPods Pro. It isn’t exactly a new model, with the earbuds themselves staying the same but you can now slap them to a MagSafe charger to give them a boost when needed.
The PS5 is great and all, but its storage is, undoubtedly, not great. With only 825 gigabytes, more room for games is sorely needed. Thankfully, Sony added support for extra SSD storage recently, so you just need to pick one up. Like most SSDs, these can be pricey—especially at the speeds required for the PS5—so any discount is welcome.
