10 most ‘popular’ foldable smartphones in the world
Foldable phones haven’t become mainstream but in the last two years there has been a surge in their popularity. Samsung has been spearheading the charge of foldable phones whereas the likes of Huawei, Xiaomi Oppo too have made their presence felt. While in India, the only foldable phones you can get are from Samsung, globally — especially in China — a lot more are available. According to a report by research firm Omdia, total foldable phones shipped in 2021 were 11.5 million. Of these, 8 million units were sold in the second half of 2021, accounting for 89% of the total shipment in 2021. The report by Omdia also lists the most shipped foldable phones in the world. The second most shipped foldable smartphone in 2021 was the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G at a total of 2.5 million units.
