Facebook announces new ways for Instagram creators to make money – Times of India
Social networking tech giant Facebook has announced new tools for creators to earn money via Instagram.
In a blog post, the company detailed that in the coming months, Instagram content creators will be able to earn a commission for a product that their followers buy from their profile. The feature, called ‘native affiliate tool’ will allow creators to discover new products available on checkout.
When Instagram users come across an affiliate post from a creator featuring a tagged product, they will see “Eligible for commission” at the top of the post, which aims to make it transparent.
Instagram will be running a test with US-based creators and businesses including Benefit, Kopari, MAC, Pat McGrath Labs and Sephora at first, and will expand to more partners in the future.
For the creators who have their own merchandise to sell, Instagram will allow them to link their shop to their personal profile in addition to their business profile as this will “allow them to display and sell their products directly to fans.”
Just last month, the app rolled out the support of Insights for Reels and Live to help creators and businesses better “understand and evaluate their performance on Instagram.”
The company said that this is being done to allow creators and businesses to understand how their content is performing.
For instance, for Reels, Instagram will show new metrics including Plays, Accounts Reached, Likes, Comments, Saves, and Shares. As for Lives, the app will show Accounts Reached, Peak Concurrent Viewers, Comments, and Shares.
