16-year old earns $1.7 million by reselling PS5, Xbox Series X and Pokemon Card: Report
Microsoft and Sony may have brought their next-gen consoles well within the reach of the hardcore gamers but the units are playing hard to get it seems, with the high demand. Similar is the case of the Pokemon trading cards. In such times, Max Hayden, a 16-year old has made a revenue of $1.7million simply by reselling the aforementioned hard-to-get items, the consoles being the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
As per the report, the actual profit the youngster made is about $110,000 (still a lot), with the $1.7million being the total amount of sales managed in 18 months. The reason for this profit? Hayden reportedly sold the units at almost double the price of the consoles, which is about $1,100 per gaming console when it costs around $500. Buyers are desperate to get their hands on the next-generation consoles. It seems some can’t wait as it is a long term investment. Hayden, by the way, has been selling other hard-to-get stuff like sneakers too, as per the report.
Multiple factors are causing the supply shortage of the gaming consoles like third party sellers, the global chip shortage and the bots that befuddle the online system to make heavy purchases. And it is not looking any better, at least for this year. So, if you are waiting for the consoles to come in stock, it’s best you don’t have high hopes for them reaching the stores anytime soon. Enjoy your PS4s and Xbox One consoles for the time being.
