BT, Virgin Media and Sky rival now offers ultimate broadband at a ludicrously low price

The race is truly on to get more homes connected to the ultimate broadband speeds. All of the big Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are now offering consumers better and downloads with Virgin and BT continuing to rollout 1Gbps broadband across the UK and Sky about to offer its users the chance to access the web at over 500Mbps.

As a quick guide, a 1Gbps connection allows users to download a full HD movie in around 40 seconds – that’s 15 times faster than the UK average. These speeds are vital as more of us work from home and use the web to stream our evening’s entertainment.

However, one downside of these speedy downloads is their price with both BT and Virgin wanting around £60 per month for access to their most premium offerings. If that sounds like way too much to pay for broadband then there is another option with a major rival to Sky, BT and Virgin launching a big update to its current plans.

Hyperoyptic has been supplying UK homes with fast fibre for 10 years and now the firm is releasing some new options that make its best speeds cheaper to subscribe to.

From this week, consumers can sign up for new 24-month deals. Although that’s a lengthy term, there is a bonus as those who are happy to commit will get much cheaper prices.

For example, signing up for a 1Gbps broadband-only plan will set you back just £35 per month – that’s a saving of £25 off the usual price.

Or, if you add a home phone line, the same fast speeds will cost just £37 per month.

Here’s full pricing for Hyperopytic’s 24-month plans.

50Mb: £20 a month

150Mb: £25 a month

Speaking about the update Charles Davies, MD ISP, Hyperoptic: “At Hyperoptic, we are committed to develop and launch products that address real, and timely customer needs. Following customer feedback for longer tenure contracts with locked in prices – we are today launching our 24-month contracts. After the success of our other market disrupting tariffs, for example our ‘monthly rolling’ contracts, which we launched in response to customer requests for greater flexibility five years ago, we are confident this is going to be another hit for our customers.”

It’s worth noting that, unlike BT, Virgin and Sky, Hyperotic is only available in certain parts of the UK. You can use the firm’s coverage checker here to see if it’s available in your street.
