xiaomi: These Xiaomi smartphones will be the first to get Android 12 update

NEW DELHI: Google is expected to soon release the stable version of its latest Android 12 operating system for Pixel smartphones. Other smartphone makers are also gearing up to launch the next iterations of their proprietary UI. Recently, Oppo announced the ColorOS 12 along with its plan to roll out the update for Oppo and OnePlus smartphones. Now, another Chinese smartphone maker has joined the bandwagon. Xiaomi has gone one step ahead of Oppo and has announced the Android 12 Stable testing program for its Mi 11 series of smartphones.
Just like other smartphone makers Xiaomi also has a tradition of involving community members in its software testing program. The company made the announcement of the Android 12 Stable testing program on its Mi Community Global. As per the announcement, the smartphone maker is looking for Android 12 Stable ROM testers for the following devices
Mi 11 Ultra
Mi 11
Mi 11i
The company is accepting applications only from MIUI Global Stable ROM users, so the Indian users should not apply for the program as of now. However, the company is expected to announce the program for Indian users in the coming weeks.
Xiaomi is planning to recruit 200 testers on a first come first serve basis for each of the Mi 11 series smartphones. Users have to fill in an application form to become part of the beta program. Users are also supposed to install an instant messenger Telegram and join the group to discuss bugs with other testers.
Last month, Samsung also opened its One UI 4, beta program for the Galaxy S21 smartphones series which include Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
This new One UI from Samsung is based on Android 12 which brings along new customisation and privacy settings. This upcoming version of the operating system also claims to bring simplified and streamlined interactions with a clean and elegant design.
