sync: Microsoft make it easier for users to copy-paste text across devices
Microsoft has started rolling out a new update for its keyboard app Swift Key with cloud clipboard sync feature. The new cloud Clipboard allows users to copy text and paste them between Android and Windows devices.
The SwiftKey keyboard version 7.9.0.5 is now available for Android devices via Google Play Store. To use the new feature, users will need to set SwiftKey as their default keyboard app and install the latest version. Once installed, users can now copy and paste text between Android and Windows and vice versa. Users will also require a Windows machine running Windows 10 October 2018 update or newer.
As already mentioned, the update is currently rolling out to the Android version of the keyboard and there’s no official word from the company about adding the same to the iOS version.
The feature is turned off by default and users will need to enable it manually to use the feature.
Steps to enable SwiftKey cloud clipboard feature
To enable it open Settings of the keyboard app and tap on the Rich input option. Then tap on Clipboard and enable Sync clipboard history to the cloud.
That’s it, the cloud sync for clipboard is now enabled.
On Windows PC, head to Settings -> System ->Clipboard -> Toggle on Clipboard history -turning on Sync across devices.
