huawei: Huawei’s next folding phone may have a new type of hinge that is more stable and less complicated

Huawei was one of the early companies to introduce a foldable smartphone for the general public when it revealed two such devices — Huawei Mate X and Mate Xs. The company has also launched the Mate X2 smartphone in February 2021. This device has an inward folding design which is like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series.
The Chinese smartphone maker is now working on a different folding mechanism that might feature a clamshell design, almost like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series. The company is reportedly changing the hinge design for the smartphone.
Gizmochina reports that Huawei will be using a next-gen hinge made by Zhaoli Technology that is being developed for quite some time now. The company has officially announced that Huawei will be using this new hinge and it seems like it is the only smartphone brand that might use this development.
This new hinge is deemed to be less complex and more stable compared to the ones that Huawei has used in its previous phones. Moreover, this hinge is made up of fewer parts that make it less expensive than the others available.
The report also adds that the clamshell foldable phone to be released in the future could be named Huawei Mate V. No official confirmation has been disclosed regarding the same by the company.
It can be expected that the phone will be launched soon and might be powered by the Kirin 9000 processor. This device is also expected to be a 4G-only model as the sanctions imposed by the US on the company is still an ongoing affair.
