Team users, Microsoft has 4 new features for you – Times of India
Microsoft Teams recently crossed 270 million active users globally. The online video platform has emerged as one of the more popular alternatives to Zoom and Google Meet. Aimed to improve virtual meeting experience for its users, Microsoft Teams has rolled out four new features — Music mode, shortcut to unmute, mirror my video and custom background on web. Let’s find out more about these features
Music mode for Teams
Microsoft Teams is getting a music mode that enables users to experience richer sound experiences when sharing non-speech content such as live music or songs through other applications. It is said to improve audio quality in Teams calls and meetings by optimizing signals captured by microphones.
The feature will also be helpful during a virtual appointment with a physician.
Press to Unmute
Microsoft Teams now has a shortcut to unmute. Users can hold the Ctrl+Space keys for Windows laptop and Option+Space keys on macOS to unmute themselves. They can release the keys to go back to the muted state again. This feature is on by default. One can disable it from the Teams Settings > Privacy section and unchecking on the Keyboard shortcut to unmute.
Mirror my video
Microsoft has also added an option to un-mirror when in a Teams meeting. This will enable users to see the text correctly in their flipped video. To enable the feature, head to the Device Settings and toggle off Mirror my video.
Custom background on web
Microsoft Teams web users can now add custom backgrounds to their meetings. They can either blur the background or select from Microsoft-provided backgrounds during a video meeting or call. The company says that blurring or replacing background may not prevent sensitive information from being visible to other people in the meeting.
