WhatsApp’s ‘request your account information’ feature is reportedly coming to Desktop. This means that users who access WhatsApp on their PCs and laptops too can use the feature. Here’s how the ‘request your account information’ feature works, what it covers and what not.

The request account information feature allows users to submit a request for and export a report of their WhatsApp account information and settings.

The report does not include users messages. If users want to access their messages other than in the app, they can export their chat history.

How many days it takes for the report to come
The report is usually available three days after the date users requested it. Users can refer to the Ready by date while waiting for their report. Two important things to remember here are: Once a user has requested a report, he/she cannot undo or cancel the pending request. Two, if users change their phone number or delete their account, the pending request will be voided and they will have to request for another report.
How to download the report
Users will receive a notification from WhatsApp on their device once the report is ready. The message usually says: ‘Your account info report is now available’

In the share tray that appears, tap the external app that you want to export the report to. For example, users can email a copy of the report to themselves. Once the report is downloaded, users will have the option to permanently delete the downloaded copy from their phone by tapping Delete report > DELETE or Delete Report on the Request account info screen.
Will deleting the report also delete users’ WhatsApp data
No, deleting the report will not delete any of users’ WhatsApp account data.
How much time users have to download the report
The ‘Request account info’ screen in WhatsApp will tell users the amount of time they have to download the report before it is deleted from the company’s servers. As this report contains users information, they should be careful about storing, sending, or uploading it to any other services.
