Samsung Galaxy S22 series prices, availability

Starting with the Galaxy S22 starts from USD 799 (approx Rs 60,000) while the Galaxy S22 Plus will be available from USD 999 (approx Rs 75,000). Both devices come with 8GB RAM. and128GB internal storage. They will also be offered with 256GB storage. The Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ will be available in four colours – Phantom White, Phantom Black, Green, and Pink Gold.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra starts at USD 1,199 (approx Rs 90,000). The Galaxy S22 Ultra comes in three colourways – Burgundy, Phantom Black, Phantom White and Green. The phones will be available in the US and other select markets initally. They are expected to launch in India soon with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 features a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1.300 nits of peak brightness and Eye Comfort Shield. The 6.1-inch AMOLED panel on the Galaxy S22 comes with the Vision Booster, which automatically adjusts the brightness per the light in user’s surroundings. Also, the smartphone has an under-display fingerprint sensor for authentication purposes.

Galaxy S21’s contour cut design is back with some new elements. The edges are now flat, made out of Armor Aluminum, and the camera module on the back now matches the phone’s shade. Also, the glasstic back is replaced by hard glass protected with Gorilla Glass Victus.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S22 comes with the newly announced Exynos 2200 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, depending on the market. The chipset inside is paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of internal memory. The smartphone boasts a 3,700mAH battery with 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. The Galaxy S22 runs Android 12 based OneUI 4.1 out-of-the-box.

In the optics department, the Galaxy S22 comes with a triple rear camera setup led by a 50MP primary Dual Pixel autofocus sensor pair with an f/1.8 wide-angle lens having an 85-degree FoV. The other two cameras in the setup are a 12MP ultrawide sensor paired with an f/2.2 aperture lens having a 120-degree FoV and a 10MP 3x telephoto sensor with an f/2.2 aperture lens. The main and telephoto sensors come with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Meanwhile, the smartphone features an f/2.2 10MP sensor on the front housed inside the centred punch-hole cutout.

Samsung says that the new main sensor on the Galaxy S22 is now 23 percent bigger than its predecessor. Thanks to the Adaptive Pixel technology – the Galaxy S22 can capture more light, details and colours even when it’s dark out there. The Auto Framing on the Galaxy S22 can detect up to 10 people in the frame and automatically adjust the focus while recording videos so that everyone’s in focus.

Other than having a tad bigger 6.6-inch FHD+ display, a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a peak brightness of 1,750 nits. The Galaxy S22+ shares many similarities with the Galaxy S22. The 6.6-inch panel is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, 240Hz sampling rate, Eye Comfort Shield and Vision Booster.

Like its smaller sibling, the Galaxy S22+ also comes with an option between Exynos 2200/ Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The 4,500mAh battery inside the Galaxy S22+ supports up to 45W fast charging, 15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. The camera setup on the Galaxy S22+ is the same as Galaxy S22.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra specifications

Last year, the Galaxy S21 Ultra was the company’s first smartphone in the Galaxy S series to come with the S Pen support. With the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Galaxy S series comes closest to the Galaxy Note series. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra looks more of a Galaxy Note smartphone than a Galaxy S series smartphone. The design changed, and a flushed camera arrangement has replaced the contour edge camera module. Even from the edges, the smartphone looks like a Galaxy Note device. Not just that, even the Note’s S Pen silo is here so that you can tuck the S Pen inside.
