steam: Elden Ring has sold over 5 million copies on PC within a week of launch – Times of India

Fantasy RPG Elden Ring has sold over 5 million copies globally on PC alone within a week of its launch, as per a report by Steam Spy. The open world action adventure game launched on February 25 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC (Steam). Moreover, the game also hit an all-time high of 891,638 concurrent players on the Steam platform.
Still, the PC sales could be higher as SteamSpy keeps a tab on the public profiles that own the game and not the private ones.
Elden Ring was also the most-wishlisted game on Steam also after toppling Dying Light 2 from the pole position which speaks for the interests of the players on the PC platform in the game. Dying Light 2 remained as the most wishlisted game on Steam for almost the entirety of 2021 before Elden Ring dethroned it.
According to SteamDB, the game has already climbed to the position of the seventh all-time most played games, with 891,638 concurrent users, with New World, Cyberpunk 2077, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: GO, Lost Ark and PUBG: Battlegrounds (highest) being the other six in the list. The game’s peak concurrent player count kept increasing by the day after its launch. It had over 764,000 players on the launch day, over 861,000 the next day, and the number rose to over 891,000 the day after. At the time of writing this report, Elden Ring had 828,001 concurrent players on Steam.
The world of Elden Ring is co-created by game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and writer George RR Martin, who is quite famous for his ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series of novels which was adapted for the TV show Game of Thrones.
