Google has announced its Girl Hackathon 2022 program aimed at women. This program will run from March 19 to April 30, 2022. Google India is currently accepting applications from ‘women coders’ to participate in the Girl Hackathon 2022. The tech giant has made this announcement through a Twitter post.
Eligibility criteria to participate in Google Girl Hackathon 2022
This program is open to all women students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in computer science and/or related subjects. Students can register in teams of three through Girl Hackathon’s official website — buildyourfuture.withgoogle.com. Registrations can be only done in teams and it is necessary to declare a ‘team leader’ at the time of registration.
The program will be divided into two groups — Group A and Group B. Group A will be for 2024 and 2025 graduates while Group B is for 2022 and 2023 graduates. The eligible degrees are — Bachelors, Masters and Integrated Dual Degrees and related courses within computer science and allied branches.
The last date for registration is March 9, 2022, and interested candidates can get themselves registered by 11:59 AM IST. The whole team needs to be registered by the ‘Team Leader’ and the other members have to share both their primary and secondary email accounts.
Moreover, the members of a team also need to be from the same campus. However, student teams with members from different campuses will be allowed only if the participants opt for random selection and the final decision will be made by the Google team based on requirements.
How is the program structured?
Every team has to take the Google Online Challenge (GOC) that will be held on March 19. It is a coding challenge that will assess participants in the areas of coding/puzzles. Google will announce the results of the challenge and the teams that will advance to the next round on March 24.
The theme of the program for this year is ‘Future of Learning’ and the next round will be a design document round. It will have a tech theme/challenge that will require innovative solutions. A design document sample with the theme will be shared with the teams who will advance from the GOC round. Teams need to make a copy of the document and use the same to build their pitch.
The document will be shared on March 24 and the design document submissions will close on April 7. The results will be announced on April 13 with a guideline to the final hackathon round.
The final round will be a virtual hackathon where the finalists have to present their final solutions to a panel of judges. The final round will take place on April 27 but the teams will have to share a working demo or prototype and code repository by April 22. The final results will be announced on April 27, 2022
