Motorola Edge 30 and Moto G 5G (2022) break cover in leaked renders

TL;DR

  • Renders of the Motorola Edge 30 and Moto G 5G (2022) have leaked.
  • The Edge 30 features a 144Hz display and the Snapdragon 778 SoC.
  • The Moto G 5G (2022) gets a 90Hz panel with budget specs.

Part of Motorola’s 2022 smartphone roadmap leaked a while back, revealing a handset codenamed “Dubai.” It’s supposed to be the “little brother” of the Motorola Edge Plus flagship that also goes by Edge 30 Pro and Edge X30 in some markets. Thanks to a new leak, we now know that the phone is called the Motorola Edge 30.

The latest information comes from tipster Evan Blass. Reporting for 91Mobiles, Blass has posted renders of the upcoming Motorola Edge 30 showing a device that looks a lot like its older sibling.

Instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 that powers the Edge Plus, the Motorola Edge 30 is tipped to feature the mid-range Snapdragon 778 SoC. It’s rumored to carry some impressive specs, such as a 6.55-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 33W charging for a 4,020mAh battery. Unlike many top brands that no longer bundle charging bricks with their phones, Motorola is said to include a 33W charger in the box.

Camera-wise, the Motorola Edge 30 seems to include two 50MP shooters and a 2MP depth sensor at the back. A 32MP selfie snapper rests within a centered punch hole. One render suggests that the device could come with an official IP rating for water resistance. It’s possibly the same IP52 rating we saw on the Edge Plus. You can check out the renders of the phone below.

Blass says that the vanilla Edge 30 should start shipping before the end of this month.

Moto G 5G (2022)

The tipster has also leaked images of Motorola’s upcoming budget offering — the Moto G 5G (2022). The device (see above) is said to pack a 6.53-inch 90Hz display, the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip, a 5,000mAh battery, and a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP main sensor and a pair of 2MP shooters for depth and macro shots.
