WhatsApp may soon let you exit chat groups silently – Times of India
WhatsApp recently announced a new feature that allows users to add up to 512 participants in a group. Now the company is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow participants to leave groups silently. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature is currently under development and it is expected to be available to beta testers with future updates.
Currently when you leave a group, WhatsApp shows a system message in the chat that informs all the participants that you have left the group. The report suggests that once the feature is rolled out, the information about you exiting the group will only show up to group admins.
According to the screenshot shared in the report, you will see a pop-up before you leave the group that will inform you that admins will know about your exit. “Exit this group? Only you and group admins will be notified that you left the group” the pop-up reads.
Apart from this, WhatsApp has also confirmed that it will soon bring the Communities feature to the app. For those who are unaware, Communities feature on WhatsApp will enable people to bring together separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them.
Users can receive updates sent to the entire Community and easily organise smaller discussion groups on what matters to them. Communities will also contain new tools for admins, including announcement messages that are sent to everyone and control over which groups can be included.
WhatsApp recently also introduced message reactions similar to the ones available on Instagram and Facebook Messenger. The feature allows users to react to messages. Users just have to tap and hold a message that they want to react to and then drag their finger to the appropriate emoji. The reaction appears below the text and is visible to all members in the group.
