How this could be the WhatsApp for iPad that everyone has been waiting for – Times of India
It’s been a long time since Meta hinted at a native WhatsApp app for iPad, but we have not got one yet. But that may be closer than ever as WhatsApp just released the beta version of a new macOS app which is built with Catalyst.
With the new beta version of the app, macOS users can access WhatsApp on their app, which was possible even before, but now the new app is supposed to be a lot better than the older one.
So, the current version of WhatsApp for macOS is based on the WhatsApp web and is built using the Electron framework. In a nutshell, it is slow and uses a huge chunk of CPU resources, making it not a very pleasing experience.
How the upcoming WhatsApp app may solve some of the biggest problems of its macOS version
However, the newer version, which is built with Catalyst, will solve these problems as it is Apple’s in-house technology which lets developers port iOS apps to macOS. And the apps built with the Catalyst technology are more optimized to run on Apple’s M-series silicon.
The newer version of WhatsApp for macOS also gets a design overhaul, and it looks quite similar to the iOS version, and it would also be available for the iPads in the near future. There is a sidebar on the left that would let users quickly switch to different sections such as calls, chats, and settings. Also, there are shortcuts to archived chats and starred messages. The app also offers status, group calls, voice messaging and location sharing. However, these features might not work properly as the app is still in a very early stage.
