Nothing Phone 1 Easter egg apparently exists

Oliver Cragg / Android Authority

TL;DR

  • There is apparently a Nothing Phone 1 Easter egg that brings in a music visualizer for The Glyph.
  • Accessing the Easter egg involves the device’s codename, which is “Abra” (the Pokémon).
  • If you have a Phone 1, it’s very easy to get this up and running.

The Android operating system comes with an Easter egg every year. This year, Android 13 will come with a cute Emoji-related Easter egg that utilizes the Material You theme. You can find out all about it with our guide.

However, it looks like there might be a customized Nothing Phone 1 Easter egg (h/t 9to5Google). In addition to the standard Android 12 Easter egg, it appears Nothing added its own fun hidden gem to the phone.

We’ve got steps on how to see the Easter egg for yourself below. Essentially, going through the steps nets you a nifty music visualizer for The Glyph — the lights on the back of the phone. This allows you to see the lights pulse with the music as it plays. Without going through the steps below, you won’t have access to the music visualizer.

Our verdict: Nothing Phone 1 review

Nothing Phone 1 Easter egg

Before we get started, we should let you know that the codename for the Nothing Phone 1 is “abra.” This is not a reference to “abracadabra,” but actually to the Pokémon. All Nothing products have Pokémon-related codenames (Carl Pei, Nothing’s CEO, is a huge Pokémon fan).

With that out of the way, to get the Nothing Phone 1 Easter egg, you first need to create a contact named “Abra.” Once created, you assign the “abra” ringtone to that made-up contact. Once you do, the music visualizer feature appears and you can turn it on or off just like all the other Glyph features.

As described, the music visualizer pulses along with the beat of your music. It’s pretty neat and interesting that Nothing hid this!
