ChromeOS 104 now rolling out: What’s new
Google ChromeOS 104 update is now live. The company has started rolling out the latest update for ChromeOS across the globe and it brings several new changes, interface updates, bug fixes and more. However, it is a phased rollout and it might take a while to reach every region. Here’s everything that’s new with the ChromeOS 104 update.
Updated dark and light themes
ChromeOS 104 brings updated dark and light themes for the operating system. The new themes make changes system-wide which means it affects all parts of the user interface including the app launcher, Files app, backgrounds of the Settings pages, self, etc. In addition to this, Google has also included new wallpapers that shift from dark and light and vice versa as per the theme. The updated dark theme can be found on the second page of Quick Settings.
Updated month and day placement in the shelf
With ChromeOS 104 update, Google has also made some adjustments to the month and day placement in the shelf. They now appear at the left of the time. Clicking on it opens the calendar and it now also has the ability to show your all the events day-wise.
Grouped notification popups
The update also brings some neat changes to the notifications. Earlier it used to appear on top of other notifications. Going forward, notifications from the same sender are now grouped together.
Redesigned launcher
Google initially started testing a compact version of the launcher with select ChromeOS users. With the update, the company is rolling it out on a wider scale. Along with that, the quick search feature has also been updated with the ability to search Android apps from Google Play Store.
Updated Gallery app
The gallery app has been updated with more features. It now comes with PDF support and also with the ability to fill out forms, sign documents and add text annotations.
