Intel unveils Arc Pro A-series GPUs: Key details – Times of India

Chipmaker Intel has unveiled the Intel Arc Pro A-series professional range of graphics processing units (GPUs). The range includes Intel Arc Pro A30M GPU for mobile form factors and the Intel Arc Pro A40 (single slot) and A50 (dual slot) GPUs for small form factor desktops.
All the GPU variants come with built-in ray tracing hardware, machine learning capabilities and “industry-first” AV1 hardware encoding acceleration, Intel said in a press release.
The Intel Arc Pro GPUs will be available starting later this year from leading mobile and desktop ecosystem partners.
“Intel Arc Pro A-series graphics are targeting certifications with leading professional software applications within the architecture, engineering and construction, and design and manufacturing industries”, said the chipmaker.
The Intel Arc Pro GPUs also come optimised for media and entertainment applications like Blender, and run the open source libraries in the Intel one API Rendering Toolkit, which are adopted and integrated with rendering tools.
A recent report by TrendForce research said that the mass production of Meteor Lake, Intel’s next big flagship processor, may be delayed until 2024 due to product design and process verification issues. Intel plans to outsource the tGPU chipset in Meteor Lake to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for manufacturing, said the report.
“Mass production of this product was initially planned for 2H22 but was later postponed to 1H23 due to product design and process verification issues,” the report mentioned.
Recently, the product’s mass production schedule has been postponed again to the end of 2023 for some reason, “completely cancelling 3nm production capacity originally booked in 2023 with only a marginal amount of wafer input remaining for engineering verification”..
The report adds that this incident has “greatly affected TSMC’s production expansion plan, resulting in Apple being the one company among the first wave of 3nm process clients from 2H22 to the start 2023 with products including M series chips and A17 Bionic”.
