The OnePlus 10T fares little better than OnePlus 10 Pro in bend test
TL;DR
- The OnePlus 10T has been subjected to a durability test by YouTuber JerryRigEverything.
- It turns out that the phone easily bent in the YouTuber’s bend test.
- However, it looks like the OnePlus 10T fared a little better than the OnePlus 10 Pro.
The OnePlus 10 Pro made headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this year when it broke in half during a bend test by noted YouTuber JerryRigEverything. Now, it’s the brand-new OnePlus 10T‘s turn to undergo durability tests, and it isn’t good news.
JerryRigEverything ran through the usual tests in a video uploaded to YouTube, but the bend test is the one that caught our attention. The OnePlus 10T initially didn’t suffer any damage when bent with the thumbs on the back of the phone, which is an improvement over the Pro model. But bending the phone with thumbs on the screen resulted in a slight bend and crack. The YouTuber continued to apply more pressure, with the plastic frame cleanly breaking.
The most concerning issue is the fact that the OnePlus 10T cracked at the same point as the OnePlus 10 Pro, just below the rear camera housing but above the batteries. This suggests that OnePlus might want to rejig its internal layout to improve durability or that it should improve construction in this area.
It nevertheless seems like the OnePlus 10T is a little more durable than the Pro model, but it says a lot that devices such as the Nothing Phone 1, Pixel 6 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 fared better in their bend tests.
