how much will it cost?

The new Ola electric car will boast of a hefty price tag but according to CEO Aggarwal promises to deliver some thrilling performance. The car will promise 0-100kmph in just 4 seconds. Earlier, the company also bragged about the car’s 500km range on a single charge.

Ola car price in India teased

The Indian EV startup, which to date has manufactured the Ola S1 Pro premium electric scooter, has also recently launched the Ola S1 entry-level e-scooter in India. In the very same event, CEO Bhavish Aggarwal teased Ola’s first car yet again after being under speculation for some time.

Global automakers think that the Indian market is not ready for world-class technology and hence sell their hand-me-down tech in India. Now we need to change this. We deserve a car that defines this new India, an India that is fearless and believes in writing its own destiny.

In a discussion with PTI, Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal highlighted the EV startup’s interest in approaching the EV car segment in a top-down fashion. The startup intends to launch premium products first, followed by more affordable models.

The CEO told PTI (via), “Ola’s product range will span Rs one lakh (entry two-wheelers) to Rs 40-50 lakh (premium electric car), and the company’s vision is to be a “global leader in mid-size, small and premium electric cars which are suitable for markets and consumers like India. The e-car will be the “fastest and sportiest” in India. We definitely have a full roadmap in the works in the car space. We will definitely have cars at the entry price market. We’re starting with a premium car that comes out in 18 to 24 months. We are envisioning across all the products (that) we will launch, maybe by 2026 or 2027 we will target a million cars a year by volume.”

Ola’s first electric car is expected to get users 400-500km of range and will boast of a 0 to 100kmph sprint time of just 4 seconds. This could make it one of the quickest cars on sale in India and India’s quickest homegrown car as well. The electric car from Ola is expected to be priced at around Rs 40 – 50 lakh in India.

Ola is likely to reserve its ambitions when it comes to the number of units sold in a month. The Rs 40-50 lakh bracket is etched with competent products from various brands and yet manages a sub-1,000 unit sales figure every month.
