Meta allows users to connect their wallets, share digital collectibles on Facebook, Instagram in the US – Times of India
Meta has announced that Instagram and Facebook users in the US can now connect their wallets and share their digital collectibles on their handles. The users can also cross-post their digital collectibles across both these platforms. The development comes almost two months after the company expanded non-fungible tokens (NFT) support on Instagram to 100 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas (including India).
It is to be noted that only the users in the US will be able to connect their wallets but those in 100 other countries across various continents will be able to share their NFTs on Instagram only. Additionally, Facebook and Instagram users in the US can connect their wallets including Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, and Dapper Wallet to post digital collectibles minted on Ethereum, Polygon and Flow.
How to share your NFTs on Instagram or Facebook
To share your NFTs on Facebook or Instagram, users need to update their apps to the latest versions. Once done, they can connect their preferred wallet by selecting the “digital collectibles” tab under Settings. A notification will pop-up and guide you through the whole process of connecting a digital wallet. Once done, tap “OK” to confirm the wallet connection.
Once their wallet is connected, creators and collectors will have the ability to choose which NFTs from their wallet they would like to share on Instagram. A digital collectible will have a shimmer effect and can display public information, such as a description of the NFT. Posts will also be visible on the creators’ or the posters’ profiles.
Furthermore, the creator and collector can be automatically attributed in the digital collectible post. However, the automatic attribution is subject to their privacy settings. Meta had previously previously announced that there will be no fees associated with posting or sharing a digital collectible on Instagram.
