Gamers, Microsoft has these tips for better gaming on Windows 11 – Times of India
If you are a PC gamer and would like to boost your gaming a bit on your Windows 11 device, Microsoft has got two tips for you. For a better gaming performance with smoother frame rates, you need to switch off two security features on Windows 11. These are Memory Integrity and the Virtual Machine Platform or VMP. As per Microsoft, both of these need to be turned off for a boost in the gaming performance of the machine but at the same time, disabling these two features would also increase the risk of cyber attacks. Both features are enabled by default on all Windows 11 devices.
Microsoft notes in a blog post: “Gamers who want to prioritise performance have the option to turn off these features while gaming and turn them back on when finished playing. However, if turned off, the device may be vulnerable to threats.”
How you can turn off Memory Integrity
To switch off Memory Integrity, you need to hit Start, then enter ‘Core Isolation’ in the taskbar, and select Core Isolation. On the Core isolation page that opens, turn off the toggle for Memory Integrity. Now, a restart may be required for your Windows 11 PC.
How you can turn off the Virtual Machine Platform (VMP)
Go to Start and enter ‘Windows features’ in the search box. Next, choose to Turn Windows features on or off, find and unselect Virtual Machine Platform and click on OK. This may also need a restart.
As per Microsoft, “VMP provides core virtual machine services for Windows. Memory Integrity helps prevent attackers from injecting their own malicious code and helps ensure that all drivers loaded onto the OS are signed and trustworthy.”
It would be best if you turn both features on after the gaming session is complete for security reasons, just like Microsoft advised.
