Google Gboard keyboard app gets this new ‘tablet’ feature in beta – Times of India
9to5Google has reported that Gboard 12.3 update includes the new tablet layout. The updated layout makes the Gboard app feel more like it is designed for bigger screen devices and not just a stretched-out phone keyboard. The update is currently available in the beta channel and is expected to roll out to a stable version of the Gboard app in the coming weeks.
As far as changes are concerned, the Gboard’s tablet layout appears to be a little taller, and the background and keys have also become a little taller and feel more squarish compared to the stretched rectangle before in landscape mode. Portrait mode has also changed with the relatively sized keys which makes it look a little more proportionate.
Keys positions have also changed. Gboard on the tablet now shows Tab and Caps Lock buttons in the first two rows towards the left and there’s an Enter button on the right side. Then there’s a Hide keyboard button at the bottom right. The comma and period buttons have been moved to a row above than before.
Recently, Google has updated a couple of its apps like Google Play Store, Docs, Drive, YouTube Music, Calculator, etc with the tablet user interface.
