Google Chrome is getting Microsoft Edge-like side panel for faster search results: Here’s how to enable it – Times of India
How to see search results from side panel on Chrome
Google Chrome will get a new sidebar where it will list search results that will let users quickly access them without having to click the back button or the shuffle through multiple tabs. This will not only save time but also effort in keeping a watch on which tab has the most relevant information. To do it:
- Enter a search into the address bar and click on a result.
- In the address bar, click “Open search inside panel” or the ‘G’ button.
- Your search results will open in the side panel.
- You can now click on a result and the page will open in your current tab so you can easily compare pages and results.
The feature is similar to Microsoft Edge’s sidebar, which is a more powerful productivity tool owing to more functionality. Furthermore, the new sidebar comes at the same place on the webpage where its reading list and bookmarks are displayed. This slide-out pane was introduced earlier this year.
How to enable Google Chrome price tracking feature
Another feature that will roll out to users is built-in price tracking. The feature will send you emails whenever the price of the product you chose to track gets cheaper. As per Google, there should be a “Track price” button in the address bar when you visit an online store.
- Go to an online store and find a product whose price you want to track.
- Click “Track Price” in the address bar.
- A pop-up will appear and you have to click “Track Price” to start tracking the item. Google says that price drop emails will go to the Google Account a user is signed into.
- To stop tracking the price of a product, click “Track Price” in the address bar and then click “Untrack”.
We were able to compare search results from the side panel on Chrome but couldn’t get the first-hand experience of the price tracking feature.
