Twitter job cuts: Elon Musk has reportedly fired most of India staff – Times of India

As expected, the layoffs have started at Twitter and India seems to have been badly affected. Multiple reports suggest that most of staff in India has been fired. Some of the employees did take to Twitter to reveal that they had been laid off.
“Just got laid off.Bird App, it was an absolute honour, the greatest privilege ever to be a part of this team, this culture,” tweeted Yash Agrawal who was part of the public policy team at Twitter.
A report by PTI also quotes a Twitter employee who confirmed that layoffs have started in India team.“Lay-off has started. Some of my colleagues have received email notification regarding this,” the employee told PTI. The report also states that a “significant chunk” of India team has been laid off.
Twitter employees did get a memo informing them about the layoffs. “Given the nature of our distributed workforce and our desire to inform impacted individuals as quickly as possible, communications for this process will take place via email. By 9AM PST on Friday Nov. 4th, everyone will receive an individual email with the subject line: Your Role at Twitter. Please check your email, including your spam folder,” the memo read.
Employees were told that “if your employment is not impacted, you will receive a notification via your Twitter email. If your employment is impacted, you will receive a notification with next steps via your personal email.”
Twitter globally has about 7,500 employees — or that was the number reported in 2021. Multiple reports have suggested that Musk has plans to get rid of almost 50% of Twitter’s workforce.
