Google has a FIFA World Cup 2022 mini-game on mobiles: Here’s how to play, score and team standings

Google has been at the forefront when it comes to celebrating events and personalities. One such event is the FIFA World Cup 2022. The company introduced a few features – which include getting detailed information about games, teams, and players – across Search as well as YouTube. In order to make search more interactive, the search engine giant has a mini-game on mobiles.
Ready to play in the Mini Cup?
Called Mini Cup, the mini-game can be accessed on both Android and iOS when you type “World Cup” in the search bar in Google Chrome. You will see the information about the upcoming matches and a blue-coloured football in the bottom right corner. Tapping the football will take you to an animated, colourful screen where you can “Play” with your favourite team in your favourite match.

For example, when you tap “Play” on the Argentina vs Saudi Arabia match card, you will be taken to the next screen where you can join your team and fans by tapping the flag of the country you support. Score as many goals as you can by swiping the ball towards the net. The number of goals a person scores will be added to the total number of goals scored by fans around the world.
One can also check the global standings of how many goals have been scored by a particular team’s fans. The tally is updated in real-time. Football fans can also check the results of the goals scored by fans in the matches that have already taken place. Currently, Argentina is leading the charts with the maximum number of goals scored by fans across the world.

The company announced the multiplayer online game when it rolled out various FIFA World Cup 2022-related features 10 days before the start of the event. “People from around the world will work together to help their team score the most amount of goals to win. Once a real-life match is set, pick your team and work with other fans to score the most virtual goals before the match ends,” Google wrote in the blog post.
