Elon Musk hires former iPhone hacker on an internship to ‘fix’ search on Twitter
It’s no secret that search on Twitter is a rather forgettable experience. Most users know it and so does Elon Musk. In fact, Musk actually compared to a rather forgotten search engine of the 90s. Now, it appears that Musk has got a former iPhone hacker to fix Twitter’ search problem.
According to a report by The Verge, Musk has got George Hotz on board to work on the Twitter’s search issues. Hotz in a tweet confirmed this and wrote when someone expressed shock at the development. “That’s what Elon told me my job was, and I will try my hardest to do it. I have 12 weeks,” said Hotz in a tweet.
How did Hotz land the internship?
It all started a few days back when Hotz in a tweet that quoted Musk’s now infamous “extremely hardcore” email. “This is the attitude that builds incredible things. Let all the people who don’t desire greatness leave,” Hotz said. He further offered his services to Musk in another tweet where he wrote, “I’ll put my money where my mouth is. I’m down for a 12 week internship at Twitter for cost of living in SF. It’s not about accumulating capital in a dead world, it’s about making the world alive.” Musk replied to his tweet and said, “Sure, let’s talk.”
Now it does appear that Hotz has already started working in his “internship” at Twitter. In a tweet, he suggested the changes that he has been working on. “I’m an intern trying to improve search, whatever feelings you have about Twitter and Elon are not about me. Think it’s cool to get feedback. Not trying to get “free work” I just find this fun. Here to learn and improve things!”
Hotz has worked as a self-driving car developer as well, according to the report. He was known for jailbreaking iPhones and reverse engineering Sony Playstation 3.
