GTA 6 to launch in 2024? Microsoft seems to think so | Digit

The hype for GTA 6 has been at a boiling point. The much-awaited sequel to the 2013 GTA 5 has been in ‘development’ for almost 10 years now. Fans have been eagerly waiting for any sort of news about the game but alas, there has been almost nothing out of Rockstar, in terms of marketing or media. But, in a strange turn of events, Microsoft seems to think that GTA 6 will hit shelves in 2024. In a response to the  UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) with regards to the Activision-Blizzard merger, Microsoft stated that it thinks that GTA 6 will launch in 2024. Microsoft also referenced a Tech Radar article from July 2022 which itself liked the original Bloomberg article from the same time.

GTA 6 to launch in 2024?

The answer was given as a response to downplay the significance of Call of Duty by comparing it to another blockbuster franchise. Microsoft stated that companies like Rockstar, Epic Games and more have a large share of the market which is why its acquisition of Activision-Blizzard could not be seen as a monopoly on the industry. While that is debatable, it’s clear that the merger will be one of the biggest in history, if it does go down without any issues. Rockstar, on the other hand, has been dealing with its own set of problems owing to the GTA 6 leaks back in September. The leaked GTA 6 video on YouTube was about 52 minutes long and there were around 90 leaked clips of the new GTA game. In the GTA Forums where the leak was shared, the leaker says, “Here are 90 footage/clips from GTA 6. It’s possible I could leak more data soon, GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets, GTA 6 testing build.”

There has been no official announcement from Rockstar or the parent company Take-Two interactive regarding GTA 6.
