These two Google apps are getting a new update, here’s what’s new – Times of India
Google has started rolling out new updates for its utility apps — Google Clock and Google Calculator. The latest update brings version 8.4 to the Calculator app and version 7.4 to the Clock app. Talking about new features, the update for both apps brings several new features, changes and more. Read on for more details:
Google Clock version 7.4 update: What’s new
Google Clock version 7.4 update brings the ability to record custom alarm sounds on Pixel smartphones. The feature relies on the Recorder app which allows users to record their custom sound. Now, this feature has already existed on other OEM’s clock apps that let users choose a local file as an alarm sound.
Apart from this, the only noticeable change that the update brings is a new ‘Privacy policy’ in the overflow menu. That redirects users to the policies.google.com/privacy webpage.
Google Calculator version 8.4 update: What’s new
As far as changes in the Calculator app are concerned, there’s nothing much to report. The only difference is that it now gets the new Privacy policy shortcut in the overflow menu just like the Google Clock app.
That’s pretty much it. However, it is important to note that the Google Clock app update will be rolled out to users as a server-side update. It won’t be available on Google Play Store.
Meanwhile, the Google Clock app’s previous version — 7.3– brought new abilities to pause an alarm and multi-timer user interface. The version 7.2 update brought the tablet redesign to the app. Talking about the Calculator app, the previous update brought the Quick Settings tile and two-column user interface for tablets.
