WhatsApp starts testing longer group subjects, descriptions for Android beta testers – Times of India
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the upcoming changes will help users describe the group in a better way. Unlike earlier, the character limit of the WhatsApp groups have been increased from 25 to 100 with an aim to provide more liberty to group admins while they are naming their groups. This will help easily identify the purpose of the group.
The update is being rolled out through the Google Play Store Beta Program for Android beta testers. The update carries the version 2.23.3.9 that allows users to set longer group subjects and descriptions.
Increased character limit
Moreover, the Meta-owned giant is also increasing the group description character limit from 512 characters to 2048 characters.
WhatsApp users need to note that they may be unsuccessful in entering a longer description for their groups currently. It does not matter if the feature has already been enabled for their WhatsApp account. It is suggested that they just wait some time before updating the group description.
Those who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta update from the Google Play Store can practice longer group subjects and descriptions. The update is expected to be rolled out in a phased manner and will gradually reach more users in the upcoming days.
