A cheap Galaxy Z Fold 4 rival with stylus
Honor launched the Magic V earlier this year, being the company’s first foldable phone and a rival to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. Now, the company has peeled the curtain back on a successor, dubbed the Honor Magic Vs.
Much like the original Magic V, you’re looking at an inward-folding design that opens up to reveal a tablet-sized display. Honor says the device weighs 261 grams and also boasts a simplified hinge design. In fact, Honor claims the device is rated by TUV Rheinland for up to 400,000 folds.
Expect a 6.45-inch 120Hz external OLED display (2,560 x 1,080) and a 7.9-inch 90Hz folding tablet screen (2K+ resolution). However, Honor is also implementing stylus support for the folding screen, in line with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and 4. There’s no slot for the so-called Magic Pen stylus though, much like the Samsung foldables.

Pop the hood and you’ll find a flagship Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and a 5,000mAh battery. Honor’s foldable also comes with 66W wired charging speeds (complete with a bundled charger), but you’re not getting wireless top-ups here.
Moving to the cameras, you should expect a 54MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide shooter (122-degree field-of-view), and an 8MP 3x tele lens. So those expecting a periscope zoom camera might be disappointed here. Otherwise, 16MP cameras handle selfies on either screen.
Other notable features include AI noise reduction for audio and video calls, Magic OS 7.0 based on Android 13, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Honor’s latest foldable goes on sale in China starting at 7,499 yuan (~$1,049) for the base 8GB/256GB model and going all the way to 8,999 yuan (~$1259) for the 12GB/512GB variant. Honor is also selling a 16GB/512GB special edition model for 10,888 yuan (~$1,523).
There’s no word on a global launch for the Honor Magic Vs yet. But we hope to see a similarly competitive price tag if it comes to the likes of Europe, India, and other markets.
