Realme marked its entry into the Indian laptop market with the launch of Realme Book Slim. The slimmest laptop in its price segment, the Realme Book Slim is powered by 11th Generation Intel processor and runs Windows 10 operating system. Realme is all set to give tough competition to Xiaomi with its premium-looking affordable laptop. The laptop comes with a starting price of Rs 46,999 and claims to deliver a smooth performance. We used the Realme Book Slim to tell you whether it is worth your money or not. So, read our complete review of the laptop and decide for yourself.

Design

Realme Book Slim is the first laptop of the company and Realme focused a lot on the design. Design-wise we can say that it is a MacBook made for Windows users. The sleek and stylish laptop weighs 1.38 kgs making it the lightest device available in this price segment. Realme Book Slim comes with a metal design which is again quite hard to find in this budget. The device features a simple and clean design which makes it look premium. The laptop comes in two colour options — Real Blue and Real Grey — and sports a matte finish design. The flap of the device consists of the Realme branding and its smooth finish makes it comfortable to hold. The device comes with rubber grips placed at the bottom. Coming to the ports, the Realme Book Slim comes with two Type C USB 3, one Type-A/ USB 3, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. In the Core i5 variant, you also get a Thunderbolt 4(USB 4). The laptop does miss out on an HDMI port and SD card slot but other than that it has everything.

One of the main highlights of the Realme Book Slim is the existence of a backlit keyboard on the laptop. The affordable laptop offers a backlit keyboard and a larger trackpad. The laptop uses a three-level backlit keyboard with a 1.3mm key travel. It is equipped with a big keycap and Smile Arc that fits your fingertips perfectly. There is no numpad on the keyboard and there are no extra keys on the keyboard. Some people might like the MacBook inspired trackpad of the laptop. Realme Book Slim uses a really large trackpad, which increases the control area by 44% as compared to its counterparts. The trackpad is also responsive enough and can register clicks quite fast.

The Realme Book Slim is a pretty looking and lightweight laptop in this price segment.

Display
Apart from design, the laptop from Realme also excels in the display department. The Realme Book Slim features a 14-inch 2K IPS display with 2160×1440 pixel resolution. The screen packs 100% sRGB colour space and a peak brightness of 400 nits. The laptop offers a 3:2 aspect ratio instead of the usual 16:10 or 16:9 screens. The tall aspect ratio of the screen helps users when they are working on MS Office, Google Docs or Sheets as it shows more information. Along with a taller aspect ratio, the display of the Realme Book Slim is surrounded by thin bezels offering a 90% screen-to-body ratio. The display also works fine during direct sunlight and it comes with wide viewing angles. The screen on the Realme Book Slim also offers accurate colour contrast and sharpness and the videos also don’t look smudgy or washed out. We only had one issue with the display, the LCD panel on the laptop comes with a glossy finish. This means that the display will become reflective if you have a bright source of light behind you. Other than that Realme has done a pretty good job with the display of its first laptop.

Performance
Realme Book Slim comes in two variants — one is powered by 11th Generation Intel Core i3 processor, while the other runs an 11th Generation Intel Core i5 processor. Both the variants pack 8GB of RAM. The Core i3 variant offers 256GB SSD space, whereas the Core i5 packs 512GB SSD space. The graphics on the laptop are handled by Intel Iris X-E Graphics. The laptop enables users to enjoy some amount of gaming with medium refresh rates. Apart from some amount of gaming, the GPU of the device also enables users to perform other tasks like video editing smoothly. The device can handle multitasking very well and it also remains cool most of the time. Realme claims that the laptop comes with dual heat pipes and high airflow dual fans.

The device works silently most of the time and you will not feel that a cooling fan is working down below. Realme Book Slim also offered pretty good performance in the audio department. The device managed to offer a loud and clear sound experience on loudspeaker.
The audio output was equally good on earphones.

Realme Book runs Windows 10 Home operating system and the laptop will also receive Windows 11 updates. The company has also added its PC connect app to the device, which can cross-connect Windows and Android systems, so you can seamlessly connect your smartphone and computer. With this feature, you can also operate your phone and access your smartphone apps directly on the laptop. Apart from this, the Realme laptop also offers some other interesting features like fast file interchange, smart application integration, clipboard sharing and more.

Battery
Coming to the battery, Realme Book Slim is backed by a 54Wh battery with 65W fast charging support. The laptop comes with a USB Type C charging port that prevents you from carrying two separate chargers as you can charge the device using your phone’s charger. The company claims that the Realme Book Slim can deliver 11 hours of battery backup on a single charge. However, during our testing, the laptop managed to churn out 9 to 10 hours of battery backup. But the presence of fast charging works as an added advantage for the device. The laptop can charge from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes.

Verdict
Realme Slim Book can be your pick if you are looking for a laptop in the price range of Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000. The device comes with an 11the Generation Intel Core processor and also performs quite well. The metal design, backlit keyboard and fast charging support make it a deal clincher. It is also better as compared to the other bulky and pricey laptops available in the market.
