A YouTuber sent an AirTag to Apple CEO Tim Cook, here’s how Apple responded
The AirTag was sent from Frankfurt in Germany and with the help of Apple’s Find My network, the YouTuber was able to locate it in several places. For instance, the AirTag were in DHL facilities, airports or when it left different countries.
The AirTag sent to Cook was also located in Nevada, US and the YouTuber found that the flight carrying the package was flying over that place. Clearly, the AirTag pinged to some passenger’s iPhone on the plane and could send the location to Find My.
As per the report, the AirTag sent to Cook stayed at Apple Park in Cupertino for six weeks before it was sent back to Germany. What was also in tow? A letter written by Apple — signed by one of Cook’s assistants — that was sent to the YouTuber. Here’s that short letter in full:
Dear Jonathan,
Thank you for sharing about your project for
Clearly, the AirTag works quite well with the Apple Find My network as shown by the YouTuber in its journey. No wonder Apple was quite pleased with it.
The report also mentions that the YouTuber sent an AirTag to Tesla CEO Elon Musk as well. “The AirTag sent to Elon Musk arrived at SpaceX headquarters and stayed there for two and a half weeks, when it was then detected at a recycling centre before its last signal in Castaic, California,” the report added.
