Accounts that engaged in doxxing will be suspended from Twitter for 7 days, says Musk | Digit

Musk’s son, X, was followed in Los Angeles by a “crazed stalker” who believed that Musk would also be in the car. The owner of Twitter shared his thoughts on the social media platform, talking about how doxxing people is not okay.

Recently, Musk revealed on Twitter that the car his son, X, was in was followed by someone who then attempted to block its path, and then sat on the hood of the car. Musk believes that he had been ‘doxxed’ – a term that refers to leaking someone’s address online. He believed that the person who leaked the real-time location of his son was under the impression that he would also be in the car with him.

Now, in a move to prevent this from happening, he has stated that any accounts involved in doxxing will receive a temporary 7-day suspension from the social media website.

Accounts that engage in doxxing will be suspended for 7 days from Twitter.

Speaking about the issue, Musk stated that criticising him all day long is completely fine, “but doxxing my real-time location and endangering my family is not”.

“This includes posting links to sites with real-time location info. Posting locations someone traveled to on a slightly delayed basis isn’t a safety problem, so is ok,” Musk added.

He also stated that he will not be banning the account entirely, as he is committed to the idea of free speech and does not want to take that away from anyone on Twitter. However, he is suspending the account temporarily due to safety concerns. “7-day suspension for doxxing. Some time away from Twitter is good for the soul,” he said.
