After Donald Trump, Elon Musk welcomes Kanye West back to Twitter – Times of India
Musk welcomes Kanye West
“Testing Testing Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked,” the celebrity, who changed his name to Ye, tweeted on Sunday (November 20). In his tweet, Musk replied, “Don’t kill what ye hate. Save what ye love.”
Ye later tweeted, “Shalom,” which is a Hebrew word used as a salutation by Jewish people at meeting or parting, meaning ‘peace’.
Why was Kanye West banned from Twitter?
Ye – or Kanye West – was banned from Twitter after he posted an anti-Semitic tweet. “The account in question has been locked due to a violation of Twitter’s policies,” a Twitter spokesperson said at that time.
Soon after Musk bought the micro-blogging platform, he welcomed the rapper back to the platform. West later posted a controversial text: “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death (sic) con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE. You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone who opposes your agenda.”
Ye’s agreement to buy ‘right-wing’ platform Parler
Soon after censorship from Big Tech, Ye entered into an agreement in principle to purchase Parler micro-blogging platform. Parler was founded in 2018 as a self-styled free-speech platform.
“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” said Ye.
Donald Trump is back on Twitter
Kanye West returned to Twitter hours after Trump’s account was reinstated. Musk shared a poll asking people if Trump should be back on Twitter. He later revealed the details of that poll saying that 51.8% of voters want to “Reinstate former President Trump.”
