After layoffs, here’s what Elon Musk has to say on Twitter expenses

Elon Musk has been at the centre of all that’s happening at Twitter. Since he acquired the company for $44 billion, the owner has been painting a good picture by sharing positive data. In the latest development, the billionaire said that the company has “gotten the expenses under control” and is not “on the fast lane of Bankruptcy anymore”.
Musk was responding to Farzad Mesbahi, a YouTuber who covers future technologies, that “Twitter isn’t secure yet, just not in the fast lane to bankruptcy. Still much work to do.”
Changes at Twitter
Elon Musk has brought a lot of changes at Twitter post-$44 billion acquisition. Just like any other businessperson, Musk wants to recover his spending as soon as possible and even make the social media company profitable despite many advertisers deserting the platform.

This is evident from the decisions he has taken to ‘get things right’ at the company. Musk trimmed down the staff and announced a ‘hardcore’ work culture which led to an exodus from Twitter. From over 7,500 employees before the acquisition, the workforce at the company is less than 2,000.
He recently re-released a fine-tuned version of the Twitter Blue subscription that will cost a minimum of $7.99 and announced that the company is working to expand the feature in more markets. Additionally, the new/ updated policies around parody accounts, doxxing, videos on the platform and a list of Blue features are a part of these changes.
Security at Twitter
Musk’s tweet highlighting the security at Twitter may be linked to the recent reports of a data leak of 400 million users. The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) launched an investigation into a Twitter data leak that affected over 5.4 million users worldwide.

Noteworthy is Musk’s acceptance that Twitter is not as safe as users would like it to be and that the company is working in that direction.
Twitter 2.0: End-to-end encryption
Earlier this year Musk said that “Twitter 2.0” would get encrypted direct messages. He also said that the teams would work to add encrypted video and voice calling between accounts.
“We want to enable users to be able to communicate without being concerned about their privacy, [or] without being concerned about a data breach at Twitter causing all of their DMs to hit the web, or think that maybe someone at Twitter could be spying on their DMs. That’s obviously not going to be cool and it has happened a few times before,” Musk said.
The new CEO also said that he had a word with Signal creator Moxie Marlinspike, who is now “potentially willing to help out” with encryption.
