Airtel customers can enable 5G on all supported Oppo phones; here’s how to activate it – Times of India

Airtel became the first company to launch 5G in India and last week the telecom giant revealed the names of eight cities where its Airtel 5G Plus service is live. Now, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has announced that those who are using Airtel SIM cards in the company’s 5G-enabled phones can now switch to 5G services by following a small process.
How to enable Airtel 5G services in Oppo phones
The first requirement to enjoy high-speed 5G services, a user must have an Oppo smartphone that comes enabled with 5G. As per Airtel those who have at least one of the following phones can easily switch to 5G: Oppo Reno 5G Pro, Oppo Reno 6, Oppo Reno 6 Pro, Oppo F19 Pro Plus, Oppo A53s, Oppo A74, Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G, Oppo F21 Pro 5G, Oppo Reno 7, Oppo Reno 8, Oppo Reno 8 Pro, Oppo K10 5G and Oppo F21s Pro.

  • Customers can experience seamless video calling, lag-free gaming and fast data upload as well as downloads by first going to the Settings menu.
  • From there, users can either search “Network” settings in the search bar on the top or tap “Network and internet.”
  • Scroll down and locate the “SIMs” and tap on it to access the “Preferred network type” option.
  • Tap on “Preferred network type” and select Airtel 5G or 5G on your Oppo phone. You can now start using the 5G service on your current phone.

Airtel has also listed a number of other 5G-enabled smartphones from multiple OEMs including Realme, Xiaomi, Vivo, iQoo, Apple, OnePlus and Samsung. The process of enabling 5G services on these phones should be more or less the same as it is on Oppo smartphones.

It is to be noted that Airtel’s 5G services have been rolled out in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi. The telecom giant claims that the Airtel 5G Plus service will cover urban India by 2023. Customers in these cities will be able to enjoy high-speed networks on their existing plans.
Reliance Jio will launch affordable 5G services in India on Diwali which falls on October 24. The company recently announced that it will start offering free 5G upgrades on beta test basis to a select group of 4G subscribers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi.
