Airtel rolls out 5G service in 125 cities – Times of India

Airtel started rolling out its 5G services in the country last year. The service provider has now announced that it has launched the Airtel 5G Plus service in 125 cities. The telco has announced that now the Airtel customers in over 256 cities in the country.
Airtel is now offering its 5G services in every major city from the upper northern city of Jammu to the southern tip of Kanyakumari. Speaking about the launch, Randeep Sekhon, CTO, Bharti Airtel said, “5G has revolutionized the world of internet, ushering in a new era of connectivity and communications that will prove to be a game-changer for the country. At Airtel, we remain committed to delivering the highest quality of network and service to our customers as we roll-out 125 more cities today. Airtel was the first in the country to offer 5G services in October 2022, and today’s mega launch is our promise to connect every Airtel customer in the country with ultra-fast Airtel 5G Plus. Our 5G rollout is on track to cover all towns and key rural areas by March 2024.”
What Airtel users need to do to access its 5G service
– Users need to be in a 5G city or area
– To access 5G, users need to check for notifications/alert in their Airtel Thanks app.
– To experience Airtel 5G Plus smartphones, customers need to change the preferred network type to 5G.
– Users can access the Airtel 5G Plus service on their existing SIM cards and don’t need to get a new SIM.
– Also, Airtel 5G Plus service is available on all the existing data plans. So, you don’t have to buy a new plan.
Your mobile bills may go up soon
Recently, it was reported that telecom companies may increase mobile tariffs this year. Mobile companies are likely to increase tariffs by the middle of 2023. “With 5G related ARPU (average revenue per user) uplift likely to be insignificant in near future, 4G prepaid tariff hike remains the most important ARPU lever for telcos. We see a higher probability of 4G prepaid tariff hikes in mid-2023,” told brokerage firm IIFL Securities in a report.
