Airtel tops in ‘mobile experience’, Reliance Jio in ‘coverage and availability’: OpenSignal – Times of India

Opensignal, a global provider of independent insights and data integrating network experience and market performance across converged, wireless and broadband operators has released its latest Mobile Network Experience Report.
The report has named Airtel as an “outright” winner across Video Experience, Games Experience, and Voice App Experience in its report. The report has also named the company a winner in the “Best Download Speed Experience” category with an average user recording -13.6 Mbps, 0.3-0.6 Mbps faster than competition and almost 10.6 Mbps faster than BSNL. Opensignal arrived at its conclusions after assessing mobile network experience of consumers across four main mobile network operators in India over a period of 90 days starting June 1, 2022 and ending on August 29, 2022 evaluating performance nationally as well as in 22 telecom circles.

“Airtel holds an edge when it comes to quality of experience (QoE) across Indian mobile networks. Our Airtel users enjoyed the best available experience when streaming videos, playing multiplayer mobile games or using over-the-top (OTT) voice services over mobile networks,” says the report.
Reliance Jio leads in availability and 4G coverage experience
Reliance Jio wins all three awards in the Coverage section. It is once again the “outright” winner of the availability and 4G availability awards. “Our Indian users were able to spend the highest proportion of time (99.4%) connected to mobile broadband services on Jio’s 4G network,” says the report. Jio also wins the 4G Coverage Experience award, as Jio users connected to 4G in the largest proportion of locations visited by Indian users — 95 of 100 locations.
