Alleged iPhone 14 receives Indian BIS certification ahead of September launch
iPhone 14 could also be made in India sooner
According to reports, Apple’s iPhone 14 series could be unveiled in India at the same time as the global launch of the phone series — in line with what Apple has been doing for the past few years. However, Apple is also expected to start manufacturing its new line of iPhones earlier in India this year — ahead of the timeline of manufacturing that the company generally follows.
Apple typically starts manufacturing its latest iPhones in China, before using its other facilities in nations such as India. For instance, Apple started manufacturing its iPhone 13, which it launched in September last year, in India in April this year. However, this year, Apple is expected to start manufacturing its latest generation iPhones in India two months after China-made ones are released, as per a report.
The iPhone 14 series is expected to be a mix of the old and the new. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are expected to use the older A15 Bionic SoC, and while the two are tipped to get higher refresh rates, they may not get variable refresh rates. The new iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to offer a new A16 SoC, 48MP rear cameras and a new notch design. Apple’s base prices of the new iPhones are also expected to go up — up by $100 from the iPhone 13 mini’s base entry price, while Pro iPhones get higher storage sizes as well.
