TL;DR

  • Amazfit has announced that the Zepp Z watch will launch in India next week.
  • The watch will retail for Rs 25,999, bringing it in line with US pricing.

Amazfit first launched the Zepp Z in late 2020, marking the Zepp brand’s second foray into the smartwatch space. It’s taken a long time, but the slick-looking watch is finally getting an Indian launch.

Amazfit has announced that the Zepp Z will be launching in India on Tuesday, July 20. The watch will be available on Amazon and has a retail price of Rs 25,999 (~$349), which is identical to US pricing. So what do you get for the price tag, then?

Well, the main drawcard is the classic design, but you’re also getting GPS support, heart-rate and SPO2 tracking, wireless charging, offline voice commands (and Alexa via OTA update), and other typical smartwatch features. The latter includes app/call/text notification support, music controls, and find my phone functionality.

Unfortunately, our own C Scott Brown noted in his Zepp Z review that the watch was way too expensive for what you actually got. He lamented the lack of NFC, local storage, third-party apps, and Wi-Fi, while also decrying the poor health tracking accuracy and companion app. On the upside, Scott praised the watch for its design, “outstanding” battery life, voice commands, and wireless charging.

Still, the smartwatch segment is a packed space, and there’s no shortage of quality options out there. You can check out our guide to the best smartwatches at the previous link.
