Amazon India re-evaluates its bet in food delivery, shuts down ed-tech amid layoffs

The Seattle-headquartered Big Tech, which until recently chased new areas of growth, is bringing a halt to them. Amazon has long been facing the heat of policy decisions, investigations and high stake corporate battles in India that forced it to realign its business in some areas. Now, in the face of stock market beatdown, it makes more tough decisions.
In late October, an Amazon executive sent this message to a restaurateur in the city of Pune: “Amazon has launched a hyper local food delivery service, Amazon Foods… to connect a select set of restaurant partners with Amazon customers.” The message then cited various reasons why restaurants should sign up.
