Amazon Prime Video mobile-only pack launched in India: price, features
The mobile-only subscription of Prime Video is priced much lower than the standard plan, costing Rs 599 per year. In comparison, the standard pack costs Rs 1,499 per year (up from Rs 999). Let’s take a look at the features of the mobile-only plan.
Amazon Prime Mobile subscription
Amazon Prime mobile-only subscription offers lesser features compared to the standard version. The streaming quality is limited to 480p resolution, which is suitable for a smaller screen while the standard plan offers 4K streaming quality. However, the mobile pack continues to offer access to Amazon originals, live cricket, and international movies. Additionally, subscribers get X-rays powered by IMDB and the ability to download for offline viewing.
Now to talk about what’s missing. Customers subscribing to the Mobile Edition pack don’t get free fast delivery on Amazon.in, ad-free music with Prime Music and Prime Reading. These features will be exclusively available to the Rs 1,499 pack only. In comparison, the top-tier plan supports multi-user profiles and streaming across devices in UHD. With the mobile-only plan, users can access only one account at a time.
Hotstar offers a mobile-only subscription at Rs 499 per year, while Netflix’s Mobile plan costs Rs 149 per month. However, Netflix does not have an annual plan for users in India.
Amazon Prime India Vice President Gaurav Gandhi said the company launched its new mobile-only plan to make the Prime Video content more accessible to all Indians.
