android 12 go edition: Google announces Android 12 Go Edition with faster app launch and long battery life – Times of India

Google has released Android 12 Go Edition for entry-level Android phones. In a blog post, the company has highlighted key features of the operating system. The new OS is said to offer a faster, cheaper and more privacy-friendly experience to the users. It will be available next year.
Android (Go edition) was launched in 2017. The special Android OS edition seeks to help more people access the best of Android and Google through affordable, entry-level phones.
Android 12 Go Edition: Key features
According to Google, apps running on the new OS will launch up to 30% faster and with smoother animation with no more waiting on a blank screen. Google says it has also created the SplashScreen API so all developers can provide a consistently smooth experience when users launch their apps.
Android 12 (Go Edition) is claimed to automatically save a device’s battery and storage. It will put apps that haven’t been used for extended periods of time to hibernate. With the updated Files Go app, users will be able to recover files within 30 days.
The OS also brings new features to the recent apps screen like listening to the news and translating any on-screen content into a preferred language. Android 12 (Go edition) also makes it easier to share apps directly with nearby devices using Nearby Share and Google Play.
Also, users’ profiles – personal and guest profiles – will be available on the device’s lock screen. They will be able to share devices with friends or family without worrying about privacy.
Android 12 (Go edition) also brings a new privacy dashboard where users can see a snapshot of which apps are accessing particular types of sensitive data, like the microphone, and revoke permissions if needed. It will also add a privacy indicator on the status bar to notify when apps are specifically accessing the microphone or camera.
