Android 12 starts rolling out for Pixel phones, will come to other smartphones later this year

NEW DELHI: Android 12 finally arrived on Pixel smartphones. The tech giant Google launched its much-awaited Pixel 6 series smartphones last night (October 19). Along with the smartphone launch, Google also started pushing out the Android 12 stable update for the Pixel phones. Now, the Pixel 3, Pixel 3A, Pixel 4, Pixel 4A, Pixel 4A 5G, Pixel 5 and Pixel 5A users can now install the update.
Android 12 comes with various new design and privacy features. The latest version of the operating system is designed to offer a new personalised look with ‘Material You’. The Material You designed enables users to go a little deeper and tweak the look of their smartphone home screen as per their liking. The tool allows users to coordinate the colours that can extend across app icons, widgets and more.
Apart from this, with Android 12 users can also see when an app is using your microphone or camera thanks to a new indicator in your phone’s status bar. And if you don’t want any apps to access your microphone or camera, you can completely disable those sensors. Android 12 allows you to choose between giving apps access to your precise location or an approximate location instead.
Privacy Dashboard is another important privacy feature of Android 12. Privacy Dashboard gives you a clear and comprehensive view of when apps access your location, camera or mic over the past 24 hours. If you see anything that you’re not comfortable with, you can manage permissions right from the dashboard.
Android 12 is available for Pixel smartphones now and it will be coming to Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo, Xiaomi devices and more later this year.
