Android 13 leaks reveal new language modes, BT LE support, and more

Android 12 is slowly rolling out to smartphones, and the Android 12L beta for foldable phones is live ahead of an official launch in early 2022. However, Google is already working on the next big mobile OS update, Android 13. Today, two separate reports have some Android 13 leaks that could reveal possible new features in the OS.

Noted leaker Mishaal Rahman posted on his Twitter page evidence that Android 13 will support Bluetooth LE Audio. The codec, which was officially launched in September, is supposed to offer higher-quality audio on smaller and low-powered devices.

Android 13 may be the first release to add full support for Bluetooth LE Audio.

Google recently merged an LC3 (the LE Audio codec) encoder and is adding the codec as an option in settings. It’ll be the highest priority A2DP source codec.

In addition, XDA-Developers has posted evidence of some more Android 13 features. They include a new runtime permission for notifications that may allow Android 13 users to disable notifications on specific apps. If accurate, this could go a long way in eliminating the tons of notifications Android phone users get every day.

The article also talks about a new feature called “TARE” (The Android Resource Economy) that could help apps better use battery resources. The OS update could also offer ways to change the lock screen layout. The report also seems to confirm an earlier story from Android Police, which reported Android 13 could support switching languages inside each Android app.

It’s important to note that all of these Android 13 leaks have yet to be confirmed by Google. It’s also more than possible that these features may not make the cut into the final version of the OS. As such, you should take all these reports with a big grain of salt until Google officially reveals Android 13 in 2022.
