Android gets a revamped Shazam widget, here’s how to use it – Times of India
The ‘Now Playing’ on Pixel is the one feature that still has not made out of the ‘stock’ Android. That leaves Android users with no other option but to Shazam the music, and for that, one will have to open the app and then Shazam it, which is not as intuitive as Pixel. And even its widget has been a mere shortcut to the app, but not anymore.
Shazam has revamped its widget for Material You, the theming engine for Android 12 and Android 13. So, the widget, which used to be a shortcut to the app, now lets users search for music directly from the home screen. All you have to do is tap the widget, similar to how one taps the icon in the control centre on iPhone.

It may not be as quick as the ‘Now Playing’ on Pixel, but you will not have to leave the home screen, similar to how it is on iPhones. Though you need to have an Android phone running at least Android 12, or else you will still have to do away with the older widget, which remains a shortcut to the app.
The default configuration is a 5×1 tile, which shows the text “Tap to Shazam,” which shows the title of the music next to the Shazam icon. But you can shrink it up to 1×1 if you want less hindrance on your home screen, and have just the Shazam icon, pulsating when finding the music and sending a notification for the title.
The new widget has arrived with version 13.7 of the Shazam app.
