android: Pixel users complaint app crash, battery drain and other issues after installing Android 12 – Times of India

Google rolled out the Android 12 operating system update to old Pixel devices recently. Days after, Pixel users have started complaining about devices getting crashed after the update. While some complained about facing issues while unlocking their device, others complained that apps on their phones keep crashing and the problem does not go away even after phone reset. Some, via posts on Pixel support page, reported about fast battery drain on the Pixel phones once the update is installed. Many also reported having issues related to the camera app.
This is not the first time users have complained about facing issues on their phones after an update. Smartphones, especially the Pixel lineup have traditionally faced problems. But it seemed to have peaked in 2018 with Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL.
Android 12 features
The Android 12 operating system was officially unveiled at Google’s I/O developer conference in May this year. It has been available to developers for quite some time before being rolled out to all users. The update comes with a new design language dubbed as Material You.
Google says that the new UI is aimed to provide a more personalised experience. It allows one to sync all icons and menus according to colours they pick from the available colour palette. The icons with Android 12 also change to match the colour of the background in that particular area.
The latest Android operating system comes with smart face detection that rotates the screen depending on how a user is holding the device. It allows one to control smart TVs with a built-in remote. With Android 12, users can also access the application while it is downloading.
