android: Protected by Android: What does this rebranding mean and how it is different from the Android Security – Times of India
Google has always been in the pursuit of creating a positive perception about Android’s safety and security. In its latest effort, the company has rebranded the ‘Android Security’ tag to ‘Protected by Android’, in a new 50-second advert posted on the official Android YouTube channel.
While the advert doesn’t reveal much information about the whole Protected by Android slogan but does provide some catchy phrases like ‘Focus on what matters; You’ve got peace of mind’, etc.
Is Protected by Android really a new thing or just another rebranding by Google? Let us explain:
What is Protected by Android?
Protected by Android is Google’s new slogan/tag to showcase the Android operating system’s safety and security. The Protected by Android is a new tag that users will see on their apps and services or like Android 13’s new Security & privacy settings page. The new tag will be the
for users that the app or their data is completely safe on the Android platform.
Is it any different from old Android Security?
Practically speaking, the Protected by Android isn’t any different than the Android Security. It is just the new branding which brings together all of the Android security and safety features under one roof.
For instance, Play Protect which was already there will ensure that the app is malware-free and their data is secure. It also puts users in charge of what data they want to share and what they want to keep personal, shady website warnings, end-to-end encryption, revoke all the permissions from unused apps and more.
